National Career Focus Internship Program

Help the Aged Canada is currently recruiting post-secondary graduates to work with our partners across Canada and in our Youth Making a Difference in the Lives of Seniors Project.

This project is funded jointly by Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC), under the Youth Employment Strategy, and Help the Aged (Canada).  Our project will provide participants with career-related work experiences to help them acquire advanced employment skills and become leaders in their fields.  Our partners providing the placement opportunities will provide on-going coaching and mentoring to assist the young professional with personal and career growth.

HRSDC Criteria

If you meet all of the HRSDC criteria, you are invited to review the position descriptions to determine if your qualifications and skills meet our requirement.

  • Up to 30 years of age (inclusive) at the time of intake/selection
  • Post-secondary graduate
  • Out of school
  • Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
  • Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
  • Not in receipt of employment insurance (EI) benefits
  • Demonstrate a lack of attachment to the labour market in your field of study
  • Have not previously participated in government funded Career Focus project

 

Application Process

Please self-evaluate your suitability for the internship position before submitting your application, know what the internship entails. Those applications that do not meet both the HRSDC criteria and the position qualifications (academic and other) will not be considered.

Submit your resume and a covering letter describing:

  • your interest and motivation for applying for the position
  • how you meet the HRSDC criteria and position qualifications
  • those skill areas you wish to develop or enhance and how this position will assist you meet these goals
  • those technical and personal skills you bring to the position.
