There are also many small waterfalls, which are very picturesque. In the lowlands, the climate is typically tropical with an average temperature of 27 C. In the higher elevations it is cool, with temperatures going down to 16 C. Here the poor are very badly off as they need warm clothing and shelter. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people, and rice is the main food crop. Tea, rubber and coconut are grown extensively, and these are exported. Cocoa and spices are also important crops.
